The movie was left intentionally left very ambiguous at key points so that it would self-perpetuate buzz.

Can we have Sea Captain plothole gripes now?
>> ID: c56b9d No. 4538
>>4531
ive been wanting to talk about plot holes since i saw the movie but everyone is treating this like the best film ever made so its kinda hard

what i hated more was shit that was just made up like how time moves slower when youre in a dream and this somehow multiplies when youre in a dream in a dream in a dream in a dream in a dream in a dream in a dream in a dream

people are gonna say BUT ITS SCI FI but some shit ESPECIALLY the fact that one goes braindead if they get killed in a dream ONLY IF THEYRE UNDER A SEDATIVE was created simply to inject tension

i mean theres shit i would generally expect from a movie based around dream sequences but some shit they just pulled out of their ass to the point where this movie didnt even have to be about dreaming
>> ID: e29538 No. 4541
>>4538
But doesn't it make sense? If you are under a sedative and thus unable to wake up....where would you go when you are killed in a dream which would normally wake you up? Unless you prefer zombies or super healing powers, Limbo works well within the mythos of Inception and besides the technology used throughout the film is never explained. This is definitely done on purpose since minor "plot holes", such as the ones you are pointing out, are not the point, purpose, or focus of the movie.

I think all the words are synonyms.
>> ID: c56b9d No. 4546
>>4541
i just didnt like it because it was a really lazy way of covering up a flaw in the story. there was a bunch of stuff in the movie that i just found really lazy, just shit to create fake tension because the entire movie consists of dream sequences so they have to add getting your brain scrambled or how having real locations in dreams is dangerous for some reason and so forth. like midway through the movie i thought to myself "wow theres gonna be no tension because if anyone dies theyll just wake up" so they added that plot device to cover it up. i think it would have been fine if team members just kept waking up making the mission harder and harder to accomplish (thus creating tension) instead of pulling a plot device out of their ass that made the audience feel stupid

but really my major gripe with this is the fact that im confident i could have written this movie myself i mean it isnt hard layering a bunch of dreams on top of each other and having shit happen in each dream that affects the other ones. i dont see how this movie is profound at all
>> ID: c56b9d No. 4547
and as you said, way too much of the movie relies on the audience not knowing how the dream machine works, which leads the several plot holes in the movie to be covered by "oh its because we dont know how the dream machine really works"

like i just remembered how earlier in the movie ellen page is able to make buildings explode and lazers and shit fly everywhere when she realizes that shes lucid dreaming but for some reason no one can make the japanese guy's chest wound magically heal or call in an airstrike during the ice fortress raid or do random lucid dream type shit to help them, i mean if you can be trained to have armed gunmen roam around your subconscious and ellen page can make the world collapse in on itself it doesnt seem far fetched

this would have of course made the movie boring if they could make shit come out of the sky to help them but this is what irks me about the movie, its a weird concept and they just gloss over alot of shit and most people just say "oh its just sci fi it doesnt matter if it makes sense"

woah wait hang on stop

you're mad about GUILLERMO DEL TORO of all people directing a lovecraft movie?

what.

yeah seriously hes better at filmmaking than lovecraft was at writing, if anything

It was more James Cameron producing. Though I don't really know how much of an impact the producer has on a movie.

I think this'll be great. GdT is a brilliant filmmaker with a knack for the unsettling supernatural. And though I'm not a fan of 3D in the least, I think it'll be interesting to see the environments.

Producer is the cash machine. He puts the money on the table so that the film maker can do his job. Of course, this funding gives him certain rights to steer the creative process (or at least offer "ideas") as long as the director allows it.

>> ID: cd24ad No. 4482
I really didn't mind season 3 besides the fact that Miguel died so soon when there was still a few episodes left. It felt like he was the main villain of season 3 and then he gets killed.

I liked it more than season 2 (although I thought season 2 was fine as well), but season 4 is definitely my favorite. I'm a little worried that I'll be a little disappointed by this new season since I loved 4 so much.

In December 2009, Cruikshank filmed Fred: The Movie, which will air on Nickelodeon, later in 2010. Nickelodeon hopes to create a franchise surrounding the character and has committed to a sequel.

A bear stealing a pick-a-nick basket? How humorous!

Seriously though great casting choice. Timberlake, though? Ehh, I'm on the edge. He's not a good voice actor (or any kind of actor for that matter), but with a Ghostbuster on board this film can't be HALF bad.

So, Japanese horror, as a genre, has been influencing all sorts of Western shit ever since The Ring made doing so popular.

But what about the originals? What are some good Japanese horror films, because for all the influence they've apparently had, I've never really heard anyone talk about any in particular.

italians make better horror movies than anyone, though

frankly italian directors are the best at taking low budgets and making great movies regardless of genre. i mean, the bird with the crystal plumage was made with some 500 grand and it's one of the best horror movies ever made (imo)

Yea. It's almost only for old/niche movies as they have a flatout ban on new hollywood releases. Recent stuff from other countries (japan, germany, etc) gets posted all the time though. The best thing I've seen about KG is that if there's a movie from X country that doesn't have subtitles, just request some for Y language in the comments and someone will either point you to them or make the fucking thing from scratch. It isn't the biggest tracker but probably one of the best userbases for a private torrent site. I managed to snag an invite from oink, rip.
They've got music too but again, it's mostly old/niche stuff. TONS of classical though.

Gimme a message on Steam and I'll hook ya up.

A better description:

"Karagarga calls itself “a private bittorrent community specializing in arthouse, alternative, cult and classic movies”. I call it: a treasure-trove of world cinema. Want some Jacques Rivette to pass your evening? Take your pick from 14 films. How about some Yasujiro Ozu? There are 39 to choose from. Satyajit Ray? Kazimierz Karabasz? Nicholas Ray? 32. 10. 21. How about a huge list of film noir, a detailed write-up of films from Quebec, or helpful introductions to films, film movements, and filmmakers you haven’t discovered yet? Check, check, and check. In fact, all encompassed, Karagarga’s history of movies contains over 13,000 films! All with passionate discussion, background info, and links to subtitles (some hand-made) in a variety of languages; and all constantly up-kept to make sure the rips are of the highest quality possible.

What you won’t find at Karagarga, however, are mainstream films, screeners, or anything shot with a camcorder inside a movie theatre. If that’s what you’re looking for, the Internet is already teeming with more than enough sites to tickle your urge. If, on the other hand, you’re interested in a community of worldwide cinephiles dedicated to the preservation and experience of over one hundred years of cinema, come on in, and join."

Tetsuo's not horror, though it is creepy. It's Japan's version of cyberpunk, and it's pretty much built around making the viewer as uncomfortable as possible, which is why the sequel is considered to be inferior.
