I actually know a few working little people actors and seriously, you'd be hard pressed to find enough of them who are suited for the roles here. Warwick Davis of course comes to mind before most anyone else, and sure he's a capable actor, but he doesn't have the right physicality. Tolkein's dwarves just really can't be played by actual people with dwarfism.

actually in every scene involving regular sized folk, especially for action, they have scale doubles for dwarves and hobbits who are played by actual dwarfs and midgets. If you watched any of the lotr movie making of videos with the set they were all pretty cool dudes. Sean Astin's was an indian guy who was Viggo's best friend during filming.

although i think they went the other way and put someone on stilts to play gandalf instead since it's way easier to pay one stunt guy to run around on stilts than it is to hire 14 midgets for every wide angle shot.

Well, that was a proper episode. Aside from some really iffy fight choreography, it was very touching.

So, once the Doctor found out that all the patients are actually in their own timestreams, why couldn't he just go out there then? Or is the plague so strong that it can linger in the environment without any carriers? But if it's that strong, then couldn't it come through the TARDIS doors whenever they were opened? Or latch onto the clothes of Amy or Rory?
