pad kontrol doesnt have as many excessive knobs as sliders are the akai shit has, but the feel and response is a billion times better than the akais
also if youre vain and want to look cool, akai will just make you look like a black person using fl studio, padkontrol looks badass aww yeaah

addendum: because the padkontrol has the best feel towards it (imho, i mean you can probably go test em out at a music store) and its pretty cheap, like 150, you could spend the extra money towards a mixer anyway ( i mean unless desk space is an issue)

if you really like ableton, it might just be a good idea to get an mpc40 because its made specifically for ableton live and does work great with that. otherwise, a normal drumpad works fine with reason and cubase (reason, though, is more centered around keyboards
