I really liked BlazBlue even though I felt like a gigantic weeaboo. Now that CS is coming soon, not to mention upcoming DLCs, I'm thinking about selling my belongings and going to Japan to become one with my true nippon spirit.

Q: What is the deal with Unlimited Lambda/Nu?
A: Unlimited Lambda is basically Lambda with Nu's moves, or Nu with Lambda's moves, depending on how you look at it, and is just called "Nu" on the select screen. She's also more powerful in general (has all the Unlimited properties.

Still no idea. I knew about unlimited characters in CT, but can you play them outside of single player, like tournaments?

I'd say Ragna, Noel, Bang, and Taokaka are a good start. The thing is with Games like GG/BB every character plays a shit ton different, unlike in say Street fighter, so you'd be better off trying everyone to try and get a feel for who you like the most.

Its difficult to choose a main just based on playing by yourself since you only have combos to go on. I thought tao was pretty cool at first but then I watched some videos of high level play with her and it kind of made me lose all interest.

That being said I play cs at the chinatown arcade in New York a lot and I mostly use bang and tager with a little bit of ragna and hakumen from time to time.

Tager is definitely my favorite character because he's so outrageously over the top, I'm pretty bad with him and try to buster a lot more than I should but every time I use him is just such a laugh. Bang and Ragna are pretty cool because they have easy and satisfying air combos that make me feel SO FUCKING PRO whenever I pull off. Bang's super mode is really awesome too, even though its autolose for me when I go into it.

BlazBlue is fighting game beginner mode.

It requires much less techincal know-how, has basically no okizeme/wake-up game outside of specific situations, etc.

Just pick Ragna and do bread-n'-butter for easy victory with no effort at all.

In my experience this hasn't really been the case. I mean its not like the game thinks for you. It just makes comboing alot easier so punishment is enhanced and there's less room to slip up in the lower skill levels.

Modern fighters are all going easymode now. SF4 is the only one that keeps some semblance of high skill ceiling with links.

And if you win because of double burst, your opponent gets an extra burst. Pretty sure the double burst was to help with some bad matchups caused by BB:CT's zoning gods. Id take bursts for losing over ultras for losing as a "comeback" mechanic always and forever.

We're just asserting the point that it still holds water as a fighter. I still don't know what you mean by modern fighters because all modern(this gen fighers, this excludes GG/SF3/MBAA/KoF etc generation) fighters excluding SF4/SSF4 are pushing the border towards casual shit. Even then SF4 and SSF4 try to sneak in as much casual shit as possible to make learning the game an absolutely horrible experience.

As a side note, doesn't psy. play SSF4 better than most people here? He enjoys BB why cant you?

You need to play other shit, like GG and Arcana Heart. I'd still consider GG to be a modern fighting game. Accent Core is only about 3 years old and would'a had a new installment by now if not for all the legal shit that happened [and BB being in the derplight].

The GG scene in America isn't as strong as it used to be. It's also spread out as fuck, even compared to most scenes. Be prepared to drive long ways to get matches, depending on where you are. One of the benefits of living in Nipponville is that I just take a quick hop to Tokyo to get in matches of anything.

I wouldn't worry too much about THIS GAME IS TOO WEEABOO -- a good game is a good game. People who say that shit still play MvC2 or main Ken, so it's not like they're doing anything worthwhile with their lives.

I would much rather play Magical Fighting Girls Spirit Battaru, as opposed to Tiers: The Game.

To be fair, I picked it up because I was brand new into fighting games and wanted to try them all out. Had I watched videos or something beforehand, I wouldn't have picked it up for the 2 reasons I stopped playing it now. 1) Nu, the fucking whore bitch that made me stop playing Tager, and 2) I don't like fanservice and panty shots. I get it, Taokaka is a girl and likes boobies, but c'mon now... Only good thing was the 100+ matches I had while playing without the slightest frame of lag.

On the other hand, I still play BB:CS from time to time on my PC and I can't WAIT for the release since not only is it very well balanced, it's still a good and fun game. Not to mention, people here are gonna actually play this version of it. But I ONLY play Tager, so I don't know where my opinion stands. I like how easy it is to do combos, but actually getting in to start it is where the skill comes in. Comboing after a throw is nasty as hell, too. I like it.

real talk though, the games today look (are) sooooo much easier compared to what these old schoolers played.

Jin has to land more combos because his specials are great. Litchi doesn't have a stellar reversal, it's good but anyone used to litchi is going to punish it very, very, very hard, so shes a glutton for punishment without fast close pokes, so shes pretty uncomfortable up close. I've seen 3v3 steamrolls like this for about every character now(well, every S and A tier character) so it really doesn't discourage me. That litchi was just better than them because she faught two essentially equal characters before. That super isn't unblockable btw it's just nasty for oki and I really don't know what that ragna was trying to do during it.

A problem with litchi now is that her combos are really, really, easy compared to CT. Longer but more lenient. I had my friend who is a lvl 50-73~(fuck I dunno all I know is he only seems to get matched up against 70s and 80s) lichi call me and complain about it once he finally got his hands on the CS arcade crack.

Like I said in the other thread, though, SSIV is only two months old. Most fighters are "balanced" when they come out because none of the skewed shit is obvious yet.

Until we start seeing more major tournaments, we shouldn't be labeling it as anything yet. It's shaping up to be a lot better than SFIV was, but that's not exactly difficult.

No, not at all as a fellow Ragna player I can understand what you're talking about. Getting in with Ragna sometimes is difficult and yeah with his low health a couple of fuckups and you are blown away. There are strategies for getting in though and it's just a matter of playing and understanding what to do against every character. You get used to it.

His drive moves are normally for the ends of combos, for the most part. I haven't played Blazblue in a while so I cannot even remember what 214 B is, give me a reminder. All the tips you generally need for combos are in the beginner video, if you haven't watched that, do so. If you need tips beyond that, I can only say get a bit creative. This game is easy on that side in the fact that if I tell most beginners that they can generally link something that they think they can, it will work ( in most occasions) up until a certain point. Things to keep in mind is that his range is one of his best tools and that pretty much every super has invincibility frames at startup

So far the only thing thats hung me up in challenge mode is Hazamas bnb(challenge 6 is essentially his BnB, minus multi hit drives) because you have to wait till 214D -> C has completely recovered to input your dash forward or the animation will eat the input, then after you dash you have to make sure theres a few solid frames between the dash and when you do your C input or it will be read as 6c.

CT tried to force a dramatic ending but CS was thuroughly enjoyable. The writer even covered his ass for the whole Mu/Noel business in a rather well done way, It at least takes some of the edge off Hazama going LOOK GUYS MU, OH YOU RUINED MU, OH WELL IT WAS GARBAGE ANYWAY. Since he eventually achieved what he was working for anyway, getting an opportunity to kill TA, TB, TC etc. Which allowed them to destroy Amaterasu like they intended in the first place. For the sake of keeping them both playable for the next game.

his combos are pretty damn easy but not a whole lot more so than anyone else (almost all combos are easy in blazblue with a few exceptions) learning how to buffer 720s is harder than learning his combos but still not that hard. Some are harder than others like buffering during a backdash vs buffering during 5A.

doing his challenges and such are easy but actually playing people is the hard part.

Tager's combos are not particularly difficult. Using AC whiffs is a bit awkward at first and whiffed j.C->j.2C right before he hits the ground is just annoying more than particularly difficult. He's much more concerned about spacing and the relative frame speed of his moves than a lot of the other characters, though, since he has shit-all of ways to get out of pressure unless your opponent is using unsafe blockstrings.

If they are, though, any character with a DP is going to be able to abuse them repeatedly and be able to do decent rushdown to boot. Well, Tsubaki aside since she's just kind of low damage for some reason.

But really, complaining about Tager combos being simpler is a bit silly when he's punished for trying to combo for too long. Have you seen his proration rate? 40%. On most of his combos he's capping out at 3.5k for a good one, 3k on average. Several of the better rushdown characters shit 4k combos off of a poke. Even his FC combos tend to cap low compared to what a lot of people can put out.

well blazblue's a good game, I really enjoy it. They just really fucked up bad on the mechanics side.

There's pretty much zero oki because of the recovery system and everyone has a billion outs for every oki, Tager is the only one with any decent kind of oki game. The game is slowed down by how tight you can make blockstrings (which is a result of most attacks having little recovery but fuckhuge hitstun, made worse in CS). So the game kind of goes "ok its your turn doo doo doo ok you didn't mix me up its my turn now" Obviously that's what fighting games like Guilty Gear do to some extent but it just slows down BB. I think mostly the game is just slower in general and less complex. Just go on dustloop and compare frame data for characters from both games and you can see right there what I'm talking about but really its deeper than that.

I mean its not that far off guilty gear I still think its fun its just a step backwards from AC and sadly the only way to fix it is to change some really core mechanics. So I hope they just make a new GG and call it a day. It'll be a shame though because if they do absolutely no one would bother with BB anymore. Really the only reason people play it is because Guilty Gear XX is almost fuckin 10 years old now and BB is a decent, fresh game. Of course they could fix BB's recovery system, mess with the frames and shit. It'd be a big project and CS was kind of a step in the wrong direction though so I'm not too hopeful.

I've picked up hazama and apparently I'm the rarity here in not having any real difficulty with his BnB's and holy shit does landing the HOU TEN JIN feel like pay day. every time.

As for CS tiers the game does certainly feel more balanced than CT (who qualified with what doesn't determine balance) which I think everyone now realizes was absolutely broken by Nu. No one feels terribly useless (sans rachel) and the usual names are still at the top of the game (Dio, Dora, Kaqn, Buppa, Zakiyama, Shadow, Dennou. Mike Z, Goryus, etc.)

Well yeah, I can completely agree, but when Blazblue came out I had to tell myself that it wasn't going to be another Guilty gear, and i think that's why so many people are disappointed.

I'm just happy that they're releasing DLC characters if any at all, because my only real problem with bb is the lack of characters.

Also I don't think Hazama's BnB's are too hard, it just takes a bit of practice, once you get used to the chains it gets 100x easier.

Blazblue is one of the best written stories I can think of that uses every cliche possible, and keeps those cliches from feeling forced. It's fucking hard to explain, it's like a really well written shounen I guess(in the sense it aims for cliche and easily identifiable characters). The plot twists are all handled really well too, with enough foreshadowing so when the twist happens you connect the dots but they don't lay the foreshadowing on too thick so you catch on beforehand. Only downfall was CT's lackluster ending. NOEL DECIDED TO STICK OUT HER FUCKING HAND, YEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHH. Although, Now that CS and the material collection are out it makes more of an impact since the point they were trying to make is Noel shouldn't exist. Which means ragna was doomed. Pretty much happened again with CS, terumi was like YEAH IM GONNA MAKE MU AND DESTROY THINGS. OH WAIT I FOUND ANOTHER WAY TO GET SHIT DONE, MU CAN FUCK OFF AND GO BACK TO BEING NOEL. They just don't know how to end each game since it's trying to force an abrupt impactful moment at the end of each game when the story just needs to keep moving.

I just got CT for pc today, I've been trying to main tager and so far I've been doing pretty well.

I've been having a bit of trouble with some combos though, like 2b->2c->collider->6c. I cant seem to get the collider to come out on time and they just airtech away. Any tips?

Also if anyone has any tips or gimmicks for footsies that would help too, since 2D->tick into grab can only go so far.

You want to cancel the 2c into Collider, right when his arms go into the air to launch. I don't know too many CT Tager tricks, I don't know how I survived without lucky SPDs, but CS gives him a million more tricks I could help you with.

I like to throw out a 2B on wake up to go into 2C > collider. Or if you poke with 5a, you can go into 5B into 3C sweep.

GET CS BRAH. Gadget finger makes Tager at least a million times more fun to play.

just practice your 720 dude, you're probably missing a corner. its absolutely necessary to hit all the inputs in the middle of the execution but you can cut off the movement early at the end (if you didn't already know that)

by cutting off the movement early I mean you don't actually need to do a full 720 to get the 720, just like you don't need to do a full 360 to get a 360. Going 632147 is enough. So a 720 you just need a full 360 and then the 632147

well its probably just the input lag messing you up. I don't even play this game anymore because I hate playing it online because I can't do combos, can't IB on reaction, can't do anything except bait and simple combos really. My only advice is try to find a scene around where you live or just deal with it. sucks but its the truth really.

also it could be you choking under the pressure, or simply trying to do a 720 in a situation which would require you to do one faster than you're used to in training.

have you played a fighter before? Not trying to be rude honest question because personally I felt like blazblue's combo system was extremely easy compared to something like Street Fighter's combos. Blazblue has pretty forgiving inputs.

It might be because I've played way more MvsC and Guilty Gear games than street fighter games though.

i feel like i do better combos if i mash buttons rather than try to do them at the right time... but I guess what you're trying to say is treat everything as instantaneous cancels? (See an attack connect, immediately buffer the next moves of the combo) It still feels really weird.

So 1.03 went live on XBOX earlier. Platinum players are everywhere and I'm pretty sure they've all but updated to CSII which means the game is virtually unplayable by me since alot of the characters are switched up now. I couldn't play this game to save my life in 1.02 so...yeah. Just thought you should know also rebump since this is slightly relevant now even though I don't think anyone plays CS anymore.

I still do. CS2 is a drastic clusterfuck of fairly large changes that had little location testing(in fact the location tests had far fewer changes than the final patch.) It probably will end up unbalancing the game more.

Continuum Shift bang, best character in the game aside from Litchi, but bang is significantly easier to play.

Continuum Shift 2 bang, eugh, not that bad but he has the worst FRKZ out of any version.
