Honestly I'm surprised, I've barely heard about MK after Evo except for winning "Best Fighting Game of the Year" awards from shit like Ppike TV. I never had a problem with the game/series itself and iI don't mind watching it on streams for a little bit, but I wasn't expecting the game to be at Evo 2012.

Problem with adding supers is that they usually nerf damage so you can combo into them for roughly the same as before at the cost of making footsies near useless. SC5 devs were not retarded and did not fall into this trap.

Although I guess the game can still end up like tekken 6 where even though there is some pretty sick proration if its not an 80% combo opportunity you're better off going back to fishing.

Just feels and looks tighter than SC4 which is good, but they gimped the hell out of everything that isn't vs mode or character creation, but if you have friends those are the only things that really matter right?

Eh, I've found with Cervantes that most combos into his CE are practically useless. Maybe that's not what it's for, then. It is fantastic at punishing pretty much anything though. Against a Cervantes with one meter, you don't want to whiff ANYTHING that doesn't leave you crouching.

Congratulations to Sinistar for winning the first-ish ever ROFA Garou Tournament (and with style, too). Overall, think we had a great tournament, even with the low number of entrants. Lots of close matches and the fall of 2B (and the rise of 5A).

In other news, due to Paypal's receiver fees, the prize distribution will be altered:

• 1st. $10
• 2nd. $4
• 3rd. A virtual pat on the back PLUS one of my finest hentai doujinshi from my private collection

Basically, no more 3rd place prize. All you have to do now is work harder for Top 2.

There will be another format change in the Garou tournament. From now on, all games will be best of 5 rounds. Instructions on how to change the number of rounds on GGPO will be posted later.

We're gonna continue with the first season into February with our first 3rd Strike ranbats. They will take place on February 5th, 4 PM EST (GMT -5). At this point, you probably know what to do, but let's go over the rules again:

• The format is Round Robin - everyone plays everyone once. Players are ranked based on wins.
• In case of ties, another game will be played.
• Each match will be best of 3 games.
• Loser may counterpick, winner may change supers.

As always, consult me on anything else.

I managed to get top 4 in a KOF tournament last weekend. Obv the best fighting game based on that strength alone.

I started playing this a few days ago. I still haven't decided on a team of characters to learn, but I'm having a blast with the game so far. I'm thinking of maybe using Maxima and Athena with someone else.

nah, people who play a lot of fighters can see the inherent worth in Q almost instantly after watching one of his matches. whether you are inclined to notice that, or whether others are or are not inclined to notice that, isn't something i can dispute over the net here, but yeah. he's just a good character to use.

and if i wanted to talk about underdog characters, Q would not be the first on my list. oro is a shit, shit character in terms of battle rationality, he just has very small frame of useful moves for 3s. he's the underdog of 3s most definitely because his normals are just so ass and you have to connect a s.hp to get ANY of his combos going. but he has a leg up on the lower tiers and has an unblockable, along with great chip, so he has his moments.

but in terms of overall efficacy, Q IS the champion low tiers in 3S. moreso than hugo, and definitely more than twelve or sean, Q has options that make him a very hard fight.

i think you just need to play a really solid Q to understand how harshly he can punish mistakes or how well he can bait you out, or how thick his defense can really get during a battle of attrition.

Just reveal Elena so I can skip the torture, Capcom.

That would be understandable since that seemed to be one of his bigger weaknesses (besides his low health and being a bit of a meter hog). I thought I heard there was a way to make his normals much safer with some of his specials, but I guess that doesn't work.

Vergils assists suck and he's a bad meter builder so he really just can't find a cozy spot on a team. On top of his normals being unsafe.

A few people from B (tasky and pheonix at least) should be moved up, and C and B tier should be combined. Even though the higher tiers are pretty dumb a lot of the lower guys compete just fine, and really aren't better enough then each other to make them a tier lower.

Yeah he can, but having to use a whole meter to be safe whereas dante just needs to hit att + s which also puts him on the offensive. His rapid slash assist is actually quite good however, especially when he's in devil trigger.
