I don't know about your prices in the US, but if that was in Europe that would have been a pretty standard fee at some regular bar
>> ID: 01f218 0 No. 13322
same in canada, domestic is always 4-5 dollars, imports are 8-10

the only economical ways to buy beer at bars is by the pitcher

it may be a domestic in canada but its still my absolute favourite beer, probably because my dad and all my brothers drank it. from what ive heard it's really hard to find in the states but it does exist at some remote locations

plus if you ever go to halifax do the brewery tour, it's actually a lot of fun

Been trying all sorts of stuff lately. One of the more interesting beers I've had is some Banana Bread ale. A wheat beer brewed with like 150-200 lbs of bananas. It tasted pretty good. Also had some red rice ale that I liked.

Founders, a brewery in Michigan, is doing a taproom release of this stout they've been working on that's brewed with chocolate, coffee blends and aged in bourbon barrels that have been used to age maple syrup. I'm probably gonna go and pick a bottle up since I live like an hour away from the place, and I'll post about it if I do.

PS Fuck Dogfish Head because I can't get any around here due to a distribution problem going on around here.

They don't have octoberfest here yet but i'm gonna try it. the Optimator is a little sweet but so damn potent it might as well be sleeping pills.

I've only tried the 6% alcohol stuff they serve in the Spatenbrau tents at Oktoberfest. Augustiner is pretty damn good too, but apparently they don't ship much (if any) of their stuff outside of Bavaria
>> ID: 34c1da 0 No. 14886

They only distribute 4 varieties to the US: Optimator, Pils, Octoberfest, Lager. That's all they send.

Those are the four

18 is a bit much for a chimay, but the grand reserve is one of the most delicious flavorful beers out there. If you said you only like pale ales what would make you spend $18 on one of the darkest beers you can get? As for those who actually like dark brews, I think you'll have a hard time finding anyone who thinks it "sucked ass".
>> ID: dffb4e 0 No. 14926
>>14924
for the price, the only other choice is light beer which tastes worse and gets ya less drunk

seriously i have no idea why people scoff at me for drinking malt liquor/high alc beer but at the same time drink shit like bud light
>> ID: dffb4e 0 No. 14928
>>14925
i should really go back and delete everything in this thread because i wrote that post when i first started drinking beer back in april or may i think? ive drank an insane amount of beer since then and when i wrote that i was COMPLETELY new to beer.

i enjoy dark beers. i just didnt like the grand reserve, the alcohol was way too present (9%) but this is coming from someone who enjoys malt liquor so maybe im just stupid

Son, it's not the alcohol that makes it bubbly. It's the bubbly that makes it bubbly. Enjoy the bubblys of a Chimay. If you can't enjoy the tingling bubbly action, stick to more flat beers. (but no seriously if you can't really enjoy something that costs a ton like chimay blue, don't buy it. I mean it's not like coors light which you can enjoy if you've already had 6)
>> ID: dffb4e 0 No. 14937

im just saying im a dude that drinks high abv shit beer like hurricane and st ides but the alcohol taste of chimay blue was too much for me, im definatley not talking about 4% abv coors light here

its just sorta weird

Got a hold of the Canadian Breakfast Stout I mentioned in my last post. I picked it up on it's release (Oct. 1), but I didn't try it until the other day, and I have to say, it's absolutely amazing. It's a shame they couldn't make more, getting a hold of a bottle now is near impossible, or will cost you a good chunk of change.

Founders is a pretty amazing brewery, and if a store near you sells any of their beers, I'd highly recommend buying a six/four pack of something they made. Except their Red's Rye PA. But I don't care for rye ales, so if that's your thing, it might be good.

after having a discussion with a craft beer snob about malt liquor he suggested i buy a 4 pack of this simply to see how drunk it got me

i had all 4 of them around 8pm and i passed out at 9.
